Within landscape there are many metaphors and meanings in relation to space and place. The signs of being at home and in a place as Yi Fu Tuan (1977) points out is that it is secure. Whereas, space represents freedom. We are 'attached to one and desire the other'. Landscape in my images is always tied to narrative and concept. The images I work with here were explorations as part of other series in this portfolio that did not quite work with other images and therefore have a space of their own. The exploration and evaluations of the human mind and experience in relations to space and place is an integral part of my practice as a photographer.
