This series is based on the exploration of the transitions in landscape. Over the course of a year, through a single window, a large series of photos are shot and then six are selected. The work is based on the inspiration of the 'Heart Sutra' from buddhist tradition that teaches us that 'All things are by nature void, not born or destroyed...' This cryptic passage can only be realised through systematic contemplation. It refers to the ungraspable nature of phenomena and the inherently void nature of all things. Another inspiration for the series is the Japanese concept of Ma. Ma referee to simplicity and basic order within a picture, no excess and nothing wasted. The concept dovetails in nicely with that of the Heart Sutra which points to bigger things than the eyes can perceive.
